Dead Alive is:
- Count Scapula – Vocals
- Manthing – Guitars
- Soul Taker – Guitars
- V – Drums
Risen out of the dark heart of Nashville, Tennessee – Dead Alive is the metal brainchild of the band’s skeletal corpse paint-wearing frontman, “Count Scapula.” Inspired by cult classic horror movies and the metal culture surrounding once underground bands of the 70s and 80s, the Count orchestrated their 8-song debut LP around the themes and imagery of the skeleton monster.
Dead Alive formed initially in 2015 after departing playing guitar from a local modern rock band on his way to Illinois for college. The Count and his co-guitarist from that band “Manthing” wanted to make metal music “you could feel in your bones,” writing an early draft of the album’s 2nd track.
It wouldn’t be until 2017, when the Count returned to Nashville, that he and Manthing completed the 7 demo tracks of “Rise of the Skeleton Army”; and not until 2020 when the Count found the last two musicians for Dead Alive’s current lineup, “Soul Taker” and “V”, and recorded the album at the studio, wired for sound, that fall.
Currently the band is on hold while The Count finishes studying the dark arts of music business at university.
